Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan is set to visit Odisha on Friday, January 23, to lead celebrations marking the birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
During the one-day tour to Odisha, VP Radhakrishnan will attend a programme marking the freedom fighter’s birth anniversary celebration in Cuttack, officials said.
Netaji was born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack.
According to the itinerary, the Vice-President is scheduled to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport at around 8.50 am on Friday. From there, he will travel by road to Cuttack directly, reaching the millennium city by 9.35 am.
Apart from visiting the Netaji Birthplace Museum in Cuttack, Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the District Culture Bhavan.
A meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg reviewed the preparedness for the VP’s visit. She instructed officials to ensure a smooth visit of Radhakrishnan.
The VP is scheduled to return to Bhubaneswar and have lunch at the Lok Bhavan, formerly Raj Bhavan, before leaving for Kolkata by 2 pm.
