Temperatures across many parts of Odisha saw a significant drop on Thursday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The mercury plummeted in Daringbadi, often referred to as the “Kashmir of Odisha” located in the Kandhamal district, which recorded the state’s lowest minimum temperature at 7.5 degree Celsius.

The IMD reported that at least 17 locations in the eastern state experienced minimum temperatures below 15 degree Celsius.

Phulbani, another town in Kandhamal district, logged a minimum temperature of 8.5 degrees Celsius. Other tows recorded 10.9 degrees Celsius in Jharsuguda, 11.1 degrees Celsius in Rourkela and 11.5 degrees Celsius at Bhawanipatna, respectively.

There will be no major change in the mercury levels in the next three days, the IMD bulletin said.

The state capital, Bhubaneswar, registered a minimum temperature of 14.1 degrees Celsius, while adjacent Cuttack logged 14.6 degrees Celsius, it added.
