MCL Coal Mines Landslide, Second Body found, Odisha CM Announce Ex Gratia

Talcher:Two days after the landslide mishap at Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. (MCL) Mines in Bharatpur in Talcher area of Angul District, the death toll rose to two on Friday as another labourer’s dead body was recovered from the debris.

The deceased  identified as Sibarampur pump house operator Kartikeswar Mohapatra.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced compensation to be given to the family of miners who died in the coalfield accident of MCL.

Ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased persons in Talcher coal mines accident has been announced by the CM.

Notably, 13 workers along with machinery were trapped when a portion of earth broke loose, thus trapping them. Nine workers have been rescued in critical condition so far and two others are still missing.
