Over Thousands of Devotees make beeline to have Darshan and seek blessings of Lord Jagannath at Shri Mandir on New Year

Puri : Thousands of devotees including Women and Children thronged at 12th century shrine, Jagannath Temple in Puri to seek the blessings of the holy deities and begin their new year on a positive note.

Devotees across Odisha and Other states were seen queuing outside the Shri Mandir , since early Morning to have glimpse of Holy trinity and seek blessings of Lord Jagannath

Anticipating lakhs of devotees on New year, the Puri District administration had made elaborate security arrangements for the devotees to have a hassle free Darshan for all.

Puri police had deployed more than 60 platoons of Police and around 200 officers in and around the Shree Mandir to maintain law and order in the area. Too many tourists are expected at the beach also, so hundreds of lifeguards will be stationed at designated bathing points along the beach to prevent incidents of drowning. Said Puri SP, Kanwar Vishal Singh

The devotees waiting for hours were provided with water and other facilities by an on duty Police team.

We sought blessings of Lord Jagannath on the first day of the New Year. May 2023 brings happiness and prosperity to all,” said a devotee who visited.” Shree Mandir

Puri Police SP Kanwar Vishal Singh told Devotees’ inflow remains very heavy, Streamlined Darshan going on, no untoward incident has been reported yet, due to overcrowding.

Police is putting special efforts to ensure assisted Darshan of super seniors and specially able devotees.” added Singh

A visually impaired devotee was assisted for Darshan by our dedicated team.

Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wished people a Happy New Year today. Through a video message the CM said.
