Bolangir: A man allegedly hacked his wife to death and committed suicide thereafter by hanging himself at Colonypada in Bhalumunda village under Bangomunda police limits of Bolangir district late last night.
The body of the man identified as Kapurchand Bichha was found hanging from roof using a ‘gamucha’ in a room adjacent to the veranda while his wife Kaikai Bachha was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood in another room inside the house, reports said.
According to sources, Kapurchand had an altercation with his wife Kaikai two months back over some issues following which the latter had gone to her paternal house at Talchakel village in the district.
Kaikai returned to Colonypada on Friday and the couple had their dinner last night as usual and slept.
Sources said Kapurchand hacked Kaikai with a sharp weapon leading to her death on the spot and later committed suicide by hanging himself late night. Though the exact reason is not known, family quarrel is suspected to be the cause behind the deaths.
The daughter-in-law of the couple identified as Sangita Bachha spotted their bodies in the house today morning and informed the police.
“I have no idea why the incident occurred. All the family members had our dinner together yesterday night,” informed Sangita.
Bongamunda police after getting information rushed to the spot and started investigation.
