Demonetisation unable to break Backbone of Naxals, Huge cache of arms and ammunition seized From Maoist Hideouts in Odisha’s Malkangiri

In one of the Biggest Cache till date from the Maoist,huge arms and ammunitions including Insas rifles, Light Machine Guns and   Explosives was seized from Maoist camp in an joint operation launched by Odisha Police, BSF, CoBRA battalion of CRPF and Greyhound of Andhra Police in Swabhiman Anchal  area of Malkangiri district informed Police DGP Abhay

DGP Abhay said we had launched a big operation in Swabhiman anchal area in early January, this operation lasted for three- four days and gave us lots of Intelligence and understanding about how Maoist are operating in that area. He said that the search operation area domination exercises was launched on the basis of information recovered from Maoists documents and electronic devices after an exchange of fire between a team comprising SOG and DVF commandos of Odisha police and Maoists at Goiguda village on January 15.

This was one of the biggest counter-LWE operations in the area that was underway to provide security coverage for road construction in the region, which was opposed by the Maoists, informed Odisha DGP Abhay.

 Intense search and area domination exercises was also launched that led to uncovering of the major Maoist hideouts and dumps in the Swabhiman Anchal and adjoining areas.

 DGP Abhay didn’t disclosed the exact  time and exact location of the hideouts for operational reasons

Abhay also stated this is the biggest seizure of Arms and Ammunation ever by Odisha Police

It is suspected that the arms and ammunition might have been looted from the police in the past. It is under Verification

We suspect that the cache was hidden by the Maoists of Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC).  In a wake of recovery, police have intensified combing and area domination exercises in the region to recover more such Naxal dumps if any, the DGP Said

However it’s also setback for those claimed that Demonetisation has broke the Backbone of Naxals.
