This will be sweetest news for Rasagola lovers across globe , Putting an end to the long wait, the sweet delicacy of Odisha offered to Lord Jagannath ‘Rasagola’ got the Geographical Indication (GI) tag on Monday
Registrar of Geographical indications, Chennai informed that the name of the Tag will be read as ‘ Odisha Rasagola’ Odisha small industries corporation Limited and Utkal Mistanna byabasayee samiti are the registered proprietor of the GI Tag
Notably the Rasagola battle among two states was bitter, Earlier a PIL was filed in Orissa High court seeking GI Tag fro Odisha Rasagola’ after West Bengal was given ‘Banglar Rasogulla’in November last year
“Rasogola is a Household name in Odisha,In ancient time it was stated that Lord Jaganath offered Rasogola to Maa Laxmi,During Niladri Bijay this culture is practiced in Rath Yatra. All poet’s and writer’s have mentioned in their poetry that Rasogola is prepared in Odisha,So as a Odia we all are happy that GI Tag has been given to Odisha Rasogola’ MSME Minister Captain Dibyashankar Mishra
