Devotees Throng Chandrabhaga To Take Holy Dip on Magha Saptami

Konark:Thousands of devotees have thronged Chandrabhaga beach in Konark  to take a holy dip and offer prayers to the Sun God on Magha Saptami today

A huge gatherings of crowd turned out on the beaches of Chandrabhaga to take a holy dip in the sea and welcome the rising Sun with prayers

This festival is celebrated on the seventh day of the new moon of Hindu Magha month. Pilgrims make a beeline to Konark every year to celebrate the birth of the Sun God. This is a day of reverence for Sun God.

Devotees reach before sunrise for lavation in the sacred Chandrabhaga river with an age-old belief that it would cleanse their sins and get them rid of skin diseases.

In view of the occasion, the district administration had made all arrangements for smooth conduct of rituals.

As many as 25 platoons of police forces, NDRF, ODRAF and Fire services personnel have been deployed to ensure safety and security of devotees at the sea beach.
