Odisha registers record single day spike of 755 fresh Covid-19 cases, Death toll mounts to 56 in the State

In a Biggest single day increase in Covid-19 cases in Odisha, The tally neared 12,000 mark as the state reported the highest single-day spike of 755 new COVID-19 cases from 23 districts in the last 24 hours.

Of the new cases , 508 were in quarantine and rest 247 were local contact cases. The highest cases are from Ganjam with 320 detections, followed by 86 in Jajpur, 62 in Sundergarh, 59 in Khordha and 55 in Cuttack.

Battling a huge surge of Covid-19 cases, the Ganjam administration on Wednesday sealed its border with adjoining Khurda and Nayagarh districts in a bid to contain the virus spread.  

The cases have been reported from 23 districts: Angul (3), Balasore (9), Bargarh (1), Bhadrak (2), Balangir (12), Cuttack (55), Deogarh (4), Dhenkanal (4), Gajapati (30), Ganjam (320), Jagatsinghpur (5), Jajpur (86), Kandhamal (2), Kendrapada (5), Keonjhar (32), Khordha (59) Koraput (5), Malkangiri (18), Mayurbhanj (12) Nayagarh (16), Puri (11), Sambalpur(2) and Sundargarh (62) informed I and PR Department

With the new cases the total tally of the state reached 11956. While active cases in the state rose to 4476.  7407 patients have recovered so far, 56 succumbed to the deadly virus in the State.
