Shocking Videos of Mass Ragging in Odisha University Surfaces, Probe ordered

Sambalpur:Despite disciplinary action and stringent norms laid down by the University Grants Commission (UGC), an incident of alleged mass ragging in Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) has shocked the State.

Months after as many as 20 students were penalized for being involved in ragging at the varsity, shocking videos purportedly showing scores of junior students of the university being harassed by their senior classmates have now surfaced.

In the videos, the senior students were seen slapping their juniors and making them do pole dance with the latter posing as poles. The ragging horror didn’t stop there as the freshers were made to dance in undergarments. The junior students are literally forced to make unsavoury moves in bare minimum clothing, to please their seniors.

A video showing students, apparently of the first year, dancing to the tunes of their seniors, has gone viral on the social media.

The incidents took place at the hostel welcome ceremony and inside the hostel. While the videos have gone viral on social media platforms

No formal complaint was lodged by the ragged student

Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Premananda Nayak took cognizance of the matter and has ordered a probe into it
