Normal Life hit due to Incessant Rain in Capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack

Several parts of the State witnessed traffic jams, road damage and power cuts due to moderate rain since Tuesday night.

Several areas which were affected by rains in the capital city here are Bomikhal, Vani vihar, Iskon Temple area, Acharya Vihar and Jaydev Vihar areas. Parts of Old town were under knee-deep water.

Almost all the areas in the city had witnessed power cuts for at least five hours now

Meanwhile The IMD Bhubaneswar centre here has issued thunderstorm and lightning alert for at least 16 districts of Odisha till 12.30 PM today.

As per the nowcast issued this morning, those districts which have been alerted are Puri, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Balasore, Khordha, Talcher, Boudh, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Ganjam.

The weatherman has also cautioned people against venturing out of their homes during the onslaught of the thunderstorm and lightning by suggesting them to take shelter in safe places.

Many hotels in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were seen filled with rain water due to poor sewerage system and the same had been aggravated with the continuous rainfall.
