CB, CID Organises 2-Day Workshop On Cyber Crime In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The CID Crime Branch (CB) organized a two-day special training programme on ‘Cyber Crime investigation, intelligence and surveillance’ at the Conventional hall of Police Bhawan here on Tuesday.

Cyber Crime Investigation Specialist Ishaan Sinha will be supervising this training programme that is scheduled on June 10 and June 11.

DGP Dr R P Sharma, IG, CID CB Arun Bothra, Addl DGP, CID, CB Santosh Upadhyay were prominent among other senior police officials during the event.

During the inaugural programme, DGP Dr R P Sharma said, “The Crime Branch has been organizing different training programs, but, on cyber crime itself, I think, in the past many years or so they have conducted about 3-4 one day seminars or workshops. But this workshop will be more enriching because of the expert channel which is engaged today is internationally renowned and acknowledged”.

He added that they need to conduct such workshops regularly because of the kind of severity and the whole expansion in the use of cyber space internet. He said that the criminals using the methods for their various uses are mind boggling.

DGP Sharma further added, “You can’t train a handful of police officers only. The basic training courses had to be attended by every police officer including the assisting police officers for investigating the cases. There are advance modules as per the advancement of cyber crimes and they are needed to be attended. It is a never ending journey. We have a long way to go to catch up with the criminals”.

“To cope up with the growing volume of the crimes, we had only one quick station established in 2006, we have created 3 more cyber crime police stations in 2017 and have sent 3 more proposals. In any cases, the complaint are asked to go the cyber crime police station at the capital and many coming to the cyber crime police station are sent back to the district which created a confusion among the people, we need to thrash out all these issues”, he added.
