Puri/Bhubaneswar:Chargesheet in the gruesome Puri gang-rape case will be filed within 20 days, said Central Range DIG Ashish Kumar Singh at a presser on Tuesday
While in Bhubaneswar DGP Satyajeet Mohanty said we are hopeful of submitting early chargesheet in this case
“Case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act. Further investigation is underway and those having direct or indirect involvement in the offence will be punished,” DIG Central range Ashish Kumar singh said
“Steps are also being taken for speedy disposal of trial after due discussion with court,” a press note of the police said.
Four teams have been set up and the case has been taken up on a priority basis
While two of the accused, identified as suspended police constable Jeetendra Sethy and Rajesh Sethy, have been arrested, other accused were detained, sources said, adding that the victim and the accused were sent for medical examination.
As per reports the minor girl was allegedly gang-raped inside a police quarter near Jhadeswari Club in Puri town. 5 persons were involved in the case
The victim, however, managed to get hold of an identity card which purportedly belongs to a police constable identified as Jitendra Sethi the prime accused ,who has been arrested along with one of his accomplice
