Odisha Chief Minister unveils a documentary on Odisha Police’s selfless Service During Cyclone Fani.

Bhubaneswar:Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday unveiled a documentary prepared by the Odisha Police on Cyclone Fani.

Naveen Patnaik applauded the ‘outstanding work’ done by Odisha Police in all domains and spheres before, during and in the aftermath of FANI by reaching out to the affected people in distress and bringing succor to them by all possible means.  

The Chief Minister said that the documentary will work as a standard operating procedure (SOP) to effectively deal with the natural calamities.

”I congratulate the Odisha Police for their untiring and selfless service,” remarked the Chief Minister.

After the release ceremony, Odisha DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma said, “This report and documentary film will certainly serve as a Standard Operating Procedure for our posterity and future police personnel in Odisha and also outside the State. It is like a reference document.”

He elaborated that the short film and report has been prepared to document such good work done by Odisha Police for the information of all. The good work done and the practices adopted can serve as a reference for the future during any such calamity. The document and short film will certainly be very useful and it will also act as a guide for the police officers in the days ahead.

 Odisha Police came forward and stood solidly with the affected people. 24 hours before the cyclone, police undertook massive awareness exercise among the public by using loud speaker, mega phones, etc. 24 hours before the impending cyclone, massive evacuation exercise was undertaken and around 1.3 million people were evacuated to designated multi-purpose shelter homes. Police also played a crucial role in the management of law and order, road clearance, distribution of relief, in the restoration work, etc.
